Prevention

Early detection is the key to avoiding costly and excessive dental treatment. Early detection consists of simply getting an annual exam and dental cleanings twice per year. This can allow the Dentist or Hygienist to detect problems BEFORE they occur. Prevention begins with the control of plaque and calculus, which are the main cause of decay and gum disease.

Porcelain Onlays and Veneers

(actual patients of Dr Peters)

You will have to visit with your dentist to find out if you are a candidate for veneers. The ideal candidate for veneers:

  • Is interested in improving their appearance
  • Is healthy
  • Has good oral hygiene
  • May have gaps in between their teeth
  • May have front teeth that are worn or cracked
  • May have crooked teeth

Veneers are a thin translucent coating made out of porcelain or resin. They are applied to the front of the tooth to improve the color, shape, size and appearance of your teeth. The procedure takes from two to three visits from start to finish . Your dentist will choose the proper color, shape, and size to meet your specific needs. After the initial preparation you will be in temporaries for approximately three to four weeks depending on the individual.

We will soon offer Cerinate Porcelain Veneers. The Cerinate formulation is extremely strong. It can be as thin as a contact lens so that your teeth do not have to be drilled or ground down to make room for the veneer. No Drilling - No Shots! There is also no need for temporary veneers so there are fewer trips to the dentist.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a process that reverses the discoloration of enamel, to create whiter, brighter appearance. You will loose no natural tooth structure or appearance.

A number of factors can cause discoloration including:

  • excessive fluoride
  • restorative material (silver/amalgam fillings)
  • aging
  • use of staining substances (coffee, tea, tobacco, red wine, etc.)
  • tetracycline stains
  • trauma
  • genetic illnesses

To determine if you are a candidate for whitening, you will need to visit your dentist to evaluate the strength and condition of you teeth and gums to make sure that they are healthy. This visit will consist of you taking dental impressions and usually you can get your "at home whitening trays" within a week of you initial visit.

We offer two types of teeth whitening, Zoom in office as seen on ABC’s Extreme Makeover for $600 mention this special for an additional $100 off Zoom only, and take home trays for $300. For your complimentary consultation please contact us.

Dental Implants

Example #1 A single Implant can be made when the adjacent teeth are healthy.

Example #2 A fixed bridge, is often used when a crown can anchor the prosthesis (bridge) in combination with a implant.

Example #3 A permanent, fixed denture is often an excellent alternative to removable dentures.

Dental implants provide an artificial tooth to replace what is or will be missing for people who have either lost teeth or are going to need teeth extracted.

Dental Implant surgery has proved to be successful for hundreds of thousands of people over the years. Negative effects such bleeding, infection, injury to the nerve or sinus cavity or incomplete healing of the bone around the implant or implant failure are very rare. During the healing process, however, discomfort, swelling and inflammation of the gums are a normal response to surgery.

Because dental implants are patterned after the structure of your natural teeth, they provide a highly stable support system for the replacement of teeth or dentures. If regular dentures or partial dentures are worn over a period of time they slip and slide and cause painful sore spots, gum loss or oral lesions.

With proper care and oral hygiene, dental implants can last 20 years to life with few complications. Because implants are so much like natural teeth, most people are unable to detect that they even exist. You are able to talk, laugh, eat and chew with confidence that they will not fall out.

You will need to speak with the proper specialist to find out if you are a candidate for dental implants. The things that we look for are:

  • General good health
  • Healthy gums
  • Sufficient bone
  • A positive attitude

The procedure involves the initial placement, and then a healing process that can take from 4-6 months depending on the patient. During this "healing" time you will be in a temporary crown and will not be without a tooth, unless your specialist feel that it is in you best interest. Again, each case is base on the individual.

Treating Periodontal Disease

Periodontal disease is a major cause of tooth loss in adults. Because early periodontal disease is painless and shows few symptoms, patients are often unaware that there is a problem. And for this reason regular dental visits are essential for the early diagnosis and treatment of gum disease.

Restoring Damaged Teeth

Damaged teeth can be caused from fractures, decay, injury or neglect and will not heal like skin tissue would heal. They require an artificial replacement. We are able to use the newest technology to restore these teeth. We can use Composite (tooth colored materials) to fill the tooth or place Veneers, Crowns, or Dental Implants to correct these imperfections.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Because of the great advances in dentistry, we are able to change the shape, color, antimony, and alignment of you natural tooth. This is possible by having Veneers, Porcelain Crowns, and or Dental Implants placed. This will improve you teeth and give you the smile that you have always wanted.

Root Canal Therapy

This procedure is required when the tooth's pulp (nerve and blood supply) become infected or inflamed (abscessed) . When this happens a root canal therapy is often the only resource that a Dentist has to save the tooth.
